"It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle."

-- Sun Tzu

The book "Art of War" is a compilation of Sun Tzu's philosophies, many dealing with war many years ago.  How can this wisdom be applied to modern times and our lives?  Can it be or is it merely outdated and inapplicable?  Post thoughts to comments.

Great job to the ladies who organized the Halloween Party on Saturday night and for Neal hosting it. Kudos to Erica's great food recipes and to the ladies who collaborated together on Saturday afternoon to help her cook all of it. Hopefully we'll have many more social gatherings with the CFB crew.

Agreed. Thank you,

Id like to give a HUGE thanks to Anna, Jen, Jessy, Hannah and her mom. These ladies helped me chop, cook, bake, prep and plate all the food! I couldnt have done it without you!

Sorry I missed the party. Looks like some goofy fun was had.

165 on the cleans. I'm not getting under the bar/reversing the direction of my body fast enough, and not getting my elbows around either.

11:32? w 50# DB on the MetCon. Brutal. Thanks to Rast and Alex for keeping me honest and not dropping the weight mid-workout!

Thank you to all of the party organizers and chefs! Delicious food and very fun party.

"The general who wins the battle makes many calculations in his temple before the battle is fought. The general who loses makes but few calculations beforehand."

My hands were destroyed yesterday from the WOD. Those chest to bar pullups are tough. 7 rounds yesterday. JH ripped the WOD up yesterday along with his hands.

The picture is hilarious. Sorry I missed it.

POST MORE PICS!

Alec--my hands were alright. What happened was I squeezed the pullup bar so hard it wept blood.

JH, that sounds like something that Chuck Norris would do. Also, when Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the Earth down.

Who is that overtly effeminate cowboy on the right?

125# on the cleans, 6:10 with 35#'2 on the metcon

Ethan, goofy fun is precisely the word for it.

Mike, G., that's hilarious and amazing. It could just as easily be you!!

Melissa has some sweet looking cleans.

102 for me today. 6:27 on the WOD with #30.

Here comes a lot of thank yous...

Thank you to everyone that came out on Saturday. I had a greeeeat time. A special thanks to Erica and Stacy Kroon for all the live enterainment. Thank you to Hannah, Erica SC, and Renee for helping me put my idea into action; it would have never happened without them. Thank you to Jess, Jen, and Anna for helping Erica with the cooking, to Monica for the cider, and to Melissa for shopping with me at the dollar tree. Thank you to my poor boyfriend Chris who came and set up with me 3 hours before the party and for helping me clean up afterwards. It wasn't his idea of fun, but he did it anyways. AAANNND last but not least thank you Neal for letting us host it at CFB. I agree with Jess, I hope that there are more social events in the future. We had a lot of laughs :)

Worked up to 202 for the Cleans. Tried 222 but could only get it from Pos. 3.

Didn't have time to do the MetCon.

October 26, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterF@t Boiii

Thanks for putting that together Amy! I'm sorry I couldn't stay long, but the boys and I were really glad to stop by.

WOD: 177#; 6:02 w/ 50#
Squat cleans are getting better. It feels like a small miracle that I am actually doing a clean, instead of trying to muscle out a reverse curl. (That only took a year and a half.) Wonderful coaching by Jen and Alex.

James, that video is hilarious. "I'm like a goddam navy seal and gold medal olympian wrapped in fu@#$%& body armor! I am fu@#$%& elite!" That belongs on a t-shirt... a t-shirt that I can take off before I "chalk up" for the WOD.

Party looks fun, sorry I missed it.

WOD 185# straight sets 2x hanging power cleans (don't know what Pos. 1 + Pos. 2 Power Clean is) Shoulder has been a little irritated so didn't push it.

MetCon - Didn't know that this was three rounds so I just treated as an 12min AMRAP got 6 rnds with 40lb db and 18in box. My thusters form improved considerably when I fatigued (less quad more glute/ham).

Yesterday Ran 800m run uphill to the park; 16 80m sprints every 45 seconds; 800m run downhill (back home). --Hills and sprints are brutal.
